Supplemental Treatments

Cupping Treatments
Cupping treatments promote good blood flow, and reduce the swelling and congestion of blood and energy caused by injury and stress. The suction created by cupping first stretches the body tissues, then as the cups are released so goes the tension, allowing the body to relax, regulate, and restore itself. Cupping treatments are commonly used for pain management, such as with back pain or shoulder injuries. They can also relieve other symptoms like gastro-intestinal disorders and respiratory disorders.

Moxibustion Treatments
Moxibustion heat treatment strengthens meridians, prevents cold disorders, and relieves pain leading to blockage of the body's meridians. Made from the Artemisia Vugaris plant (Ai Ye), when burned this leaf extract supplies a penetrating yet mild heat into the acupuncture points, which assists moving energy (Qi/Chi) along the meridians. This plant leaf is also used for other herbal remedies. Many patients report this particular type of heat treatment as "relaxing and rejuvenating". Moxibustion treatments are commonly used for pain management, such as osteroarthritis, rheumatism, and fibromyalgia. They can also relieve other symptoms like abdominal disorders and chronic fatigue.

Electro-acupuncture Treatments
Electro-acupuncture treatment promotes energy flow and reduces pain. The electrodes are connected to the acupuncture needles thus capable of targeting the impulse to stimulate a specific muscle group or acupuncture point. When the needles are placed in muscle tissue, the muscles will contract at the same frequency as the output, and it is especially recommended for nerve pain and paralysis. However, early studies reveal that electro-acupuncture at different frequencies can have different effects on the synthesis and release of norepinephrine, acetylcholine and beta-endorphin in the central nervous system, mainly normalizing the autonomic nervous system to reduce pain. Electro-acupuncture treatments are commonly used for pain management, such as acute pain (after surgery) and chronic pain (arthritis, back, neck, shoulder, knee, or hip joints pain).
